Reddish Tint

Leaves Red

My husband and I moved into our first home together in September of last year. Because we started looking at the house in late summer, we were unable to see the beauty of spring come to life in the garden… until a few weeks ago.

To say that we inherited an incredible garden would be doing it a disservice. The original homeowners put an immeasurable amount of time and money into making the garden look absolutely gorgeous and it shows in a breathtaking amount. It has been a blessing to be able to watch the different variations of flowers bloom over the past month.

I agree with your approach – when you inherit a garden, you should watch it carefully for the first year to get a feel for it at different seasons before making any major changes. That ‘bare’ patch of ground might be home to a hidden bulb or perennial treasure that will only emerge when conditions are right.

    1. Absolutely! Especially since what I thought was a bare spot during the fall turned out to be a huge patch of hostas this spring. I would have tried to plant mums there had I not been paying close enough attention!
